"professor" seth rudetsky
the new york broadway theatre community is very familiar with seth rudetsky, a new york musician, actor, and writer [he was nominated for three emmys for his writing on the rosie o'donnell show]. i just became aware of him because of his posts on all that chat [a forum for theatre news and everything you'd ever want to know about theatre, but might be afraid to ask]. he is very knowledgeable and passionate about theatre and music, and he is quite humorous and quirky when he talks about both together [he's just published a new book about funny theatre anecdotes]. i just found this video where he "deconstructs" tony award-winning actress christine ebersole's singing/ performance in Grey Gardens, the recent broadway musical based on the lives of two eccentric new england women: edith "big edie" ewing bouvier beale and and her daughter edith "little edie" bouvier beale [they were were the aunt and first cousin of jacqueline bouvier kennedy onassis]. before it was a musical, the ladies became famous for playing themselves in a documentary of the same name. i saw this show on broadway in november of 2006 and enjoyed it because of how the authors developed the characters and story from the documentary to stage [oh, yeah - and the performances were great, too!].

anyway, in the video below, seth "deconstructs" christine ebersole's performance. watch and learn [i did].

p.s. here is part of christine ebersole's tony award-winning performance featured on the 2007 TONY AWARDS:

    About Me

    My photo
    NYC, United States
A goal in mind. A vision. Daily steps to achieving the somewhat unachievable. A record of what is accomplished. Given FAITH that proceeding toward a transformation that will transform my life. Trust in the process. Chipping away at the fat while building glorious muscle. Seeing myself in a different light and gaining confidence beyond my wildest imagination. Becoming real. My reality. My Transformation at a cellular level. Using informed knowledge to change my life. For me and no one else. Giving to myself will allow me to give to others. Loving myself better so I can love others better. One day at a time. One week at a time planned out. To become months and years of better fitness for myself. Again, grasshopper, trust in the process.
