pumpkin, the "cool" cat
about two years ago, while living in CA, i decided to get a cat from the local dog and cat rescue ARF. it was xmas eve and being away from my family, i wanted to do something different for my celebration of dec. 25th. so i adopted "montegue." that's what ARF had named him. on his adoption papers it said "when purring, montegue chirps like a bird." sure enough, when i got him home and after he felt accustomed to his new surroundings, montegue started chirping like a bird. his purr sounded like a regular cat purring, except when he got to the end of each purr - the purr went up in pitch.

now known as pumpkin the cat [i renamed him], pumpkin started going in the refrigerator every time i opened it. so it became tradition that every time i opened the door of the fridge, there went pumpkin into the bottom of the fridge where the vegetable drawer should be [for some reason i didn't get one when i moved into the apartment]. so this became tradition, our little game: i open the door, in goes pumpkin. soon i just started to leave him in there with the door open. one time i closed the door because i wanted to see what he would do. there he sat in cool dark little fort. it was cute until i forgot i had let him in there one day and closed the door and went about my business. about an hour later, i started hearing these muffled meows. i had forgotten about our little game and ran to the fridge to let him out. out he came, a little cooler than when he went in. but did this deter him from doing it again? no. so it became our little game. i'm just glad he's not a kid wanting to do that.

here are some other pictures of the biter. yes, he is a biter...when i got him, he was already declawed on his front paws so i think he compensated by using what he had: teeth! also, i think he was abused by his former owner because he doesn't like feet. he attacks sometimes out of the blue, biting feet and legs...but i think he's just rough playing. he knows he's loved. i just make sure there is food in his dish, OR ELSE! TEETH!
